MCP (Model Context Protocol)

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Manus use outside services. A service offers its functions through an MCP server, and the AI tool calls them when you ask in plain language. With Formify's MCP server, the AI tool works in your own Formify account with your own permissions.

How it works in Formify

Formify runs its own MCP server at https://mcp.formify.eu/mcp. You add the URL once in your AI tool and sign in with your Formify account (OAuth). You do not need an API key.

After that you describe what you want, and the AI tool picks the right step among the server's 50 MCP tools. It can create a document from a template or a PDF, send it for signature, remind signers, check who has signed and download the signed copy.

The server works with Claude (desktop and web), Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code and Manus, and with other AI tools that can add a remote MCP server. Setup steps and videos are on the page e-signing with MCP for ChatGPT, Claude and Manus.

What you can ask for

  • "Send the NDA template to anna@example.com for signing with Live ID."
  • "Has the contract with Erik been signed yet? If not, send a reminder."
  • "Download the signed copy of the employment agreement."

FAQ

What does MCP stand for?

Model Context Protocol. It describes how an AI tool talks to an outside service: which functions the service offers and how the AI tool calls them.

Is MCP an open standard?

Yes. The official site, modelcontextprotocol.io, describes MCP as an open-source standard for connecting AI applications to external systems.

Which AI tools support MCP?

The official MCP site names Claude, ChatGPT, VS Code and Cursor among the AI applications that support it. Formify has setup guides for ChatGPT, Claude and Manus.

Can an AI tool send a contract for e-signature with MCP?

Yes, if the e-signature service has an MCP server. With Formify, the AI tool prepares and sends the document, and the signer signs on Formify's signing page. The signer does not need an AI tool.
